Unexpectedly for me, it was extremely interesting!!
A few points that I actually jotted down while listening:
The basics for quick thinking:
1. Being Open Minded - No Progress with closed minded
2. Big Picture Thinking - doing what are they doing, why they are doing
3. Forward Thinking - Moving yourself forward - Intention Vs. Attention - Attention should be in the present and Intention should be of the future
4. Non-Linear Thinking/Collateral Thinking - More ways of thinking than Yes or No
Tap your creativity immediately - Learning and Practicing:
1. Thinking more with sub concious Vs. concious mind - The faster you go the faster you can by pass your concious mind
2. Perfect Balance b/w Compliance and Creativity
3. Idea of an Empty Mind - Zen idea: The mind is like the pond - pebble is the problem and the ripple is the solution. The calmer the mind - more you can think
Two Styles of Quick Thinking:
1. Better First Ideas
2. Immediately Evaluate Idea 1, Idea 2, Idea 3
Better First Response/Idea:
1. Thinking only "Yes and" (Usually, followed by why): Do not think in "No"/"Yes But"
2. Focus on what you can control
3. Visualization
4. Journaling(write down whatever comes to your mind) and Meditation
5. Act of Noticing, practicing to come up with options in the head, practicing as to how could I be saying and finally saying it aloud
For Practice:
1. Word Association Exercise - not pausing would mean thinking with sub conscious
2. Expert Interview - Someone ask questions on something you are an expert on
"Some people are good in some areas and definitely not in some new different areas."
How would the quick thinking actually help us in different areas:
1. In Stress Reduction - Eliminates Stress and Fear
"I dont' know what's going to happen but whatever will happen - my mind will come up with something for sure!"
2. In Sales: Sales person Confidence matters a lot. Sometimes the seniors just goofy stuff to evaluate the responses of the sales person.
3. Customer Service: To give the Customer an idea that he is being listened to.
4. Leadership: Quick decisions and big picture.
5. Meeting and Event Planning: Things do go wrong - so how can they be actually worked upon
